UK Tote and Hong Kong Jockey Club Enter Commingling Deal

UK Tote will augment the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s already growing betting pools as they sign a commingling deal.

UK-based punters will now be allowed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club to place bets on HKJC’s pari-mutuel pools. The Satellite Information Services was also announced during the meeting at Happy Valley. It will broadcast live feeds to racing fans in UK betting outlets.

HKJC Aims to Offer Betting to an International Audience

HKJC’s deal with UK Tote is the first of the several planned deals with other UK operators. The deal will enable UK Tote owner Betfred and the Coral-Ladbrokes gambling entity to offer HKJC betting pools online as well.UK bettors won’t be able to engage in fixed-odds wagering at the moment.

HKJC Commingling Development Director, George Irvine, has welcomed UK punters into its betting pools. Mr.Irvine is optimistic that it will broaden HKJC’s reach as UK retail betting outlets bring the races to UK punters. The HKJC received the approval to commingle its pools in 2013.

HKJC’s Revenues Increased in Latest Annual Report

Australia’s latest crackdown on Norfolk Island Gaming Authority could bring positive repercussion for the HKJC. HKJC reports that race betting has experienced a turnover rising a mere 1.8% to HKD 107b. Football revenue turnover was up by 11% to HKD 87b. The HKJC has also entered in a deal with Toronto-based Woodbine Entertainment Group. It is already planning a similar approach for the British Columbia region.
