The Hobart Race

The Hobart race circuit (which almost sounds too much like Hodor races to be a real name for a circuit) is located in Tasmania, and overlooks the beautiful Elwick Bay. The circuit is also surrounded by a ton of interesting local landmarks, including Mt. Wellington, and Derwent River. Recently Hobart was also in the news for a local shooting where a man killed his wife. You however don’t need to be afraid, because the shooting didn’t have anything to do with horse races.

The Hobart circuit, like any other circuit, holds many races the most famous of them being the Hobart cup in group 3. The next race held on the Hobart circuit is the GIVE ME 5 FOR KIDS BREAKFAST 2YO MAIDEN PLATE, a race of 1200m this Tuesday. In this race Life’s quest with Ms Hayley McCarthy as jockey, My Kingdom with Jason Lyon as jockey, Nissky with David Pires, Colonial Coaster with Damien Thornton, Gee Gee Sun Valley with Victor Wong, and Jazzy’s Choice with Ms Georgie Catania, will race against each other. This first race is a race with mostly newcomers with no previous records; this makes Colonial Coaster the only horse with some racing experience the favourite. However any of the other horses could get a dose of beginners luck and win the race.

On that day there will be 8 Races each with their own clever names. From the race we just mentioned to “Tattersall’s Park Function Centre 2YO & Upwards Maiden Plate” after that. The day ends with the BUSINESS SPONSORSHIP AVAILABLE BENCHMARK 82 HANDICAP races which is one of the less outstanding names.

The last winner of the Hobart Cup this year was Geegees Backflash, who ran the 2400m course of the cup to win $1 million in prize money. This was the second time Geegees Backflash won the Hobart cup. For Tuesday’s race it will be exciting to see if the horse named Gee Gee Sun Valley can, just like the other Geegees, deliver spectacular runs.

When you’re in Tasmania this Tuesday I hope you will have a spectacular time, enjoying both the landscape and the horses.
