Major Upcoming Horse Racing Events in the UK

The most notable forthcoming horse racing events in the United Kingdom are plenty, but perhaps the most important ones are those that involve the BCS (British Champion Series). These events are scattered all over the year, but most of them are done during May, June and July. The following includes dates and locations for the June and July events.

June 2015 Major Events

The Investec Derby Festival is a two day event that lasts from 05 June – 06 June. It will be in the Epsom Downs racetrack. This is a very important contest in the entirety of the UK and the rest of the world. It is a big part of the British Champion Series. This place can give goose bumps to those passionate about horse racing, as legends were made in it. These include Lester Piggott’s nine wins, the amazing training stunts done by Vincent O’Brien and the astonishing abilities of famed winners, including Workforce, Sea-Bird and Mill Reef. Over one hundred thousand people, some of them being celebrities and royals, flock to this event to watch the graceful movements of the beautiful stallions.

A race that can make any fan of horse racing giddy with delight follows. It is the Royal Ascot at Ascot, which takes place on 16 June – 20 June. This event is truly worth attending; something to mark on your calendar for this summer. It is five days long, and it is the absolute best throughout the whole English Flat summer season. It contains fifteen Group races, with the minimum of one group per day and over £3.5 million in prize money. The horse racing standard is mind-blowing. The highlight of this meet-up is the Gold Cup, which is run over two and a half miles on the third day. This race is special for reasons other than the horse racing; it is a place for British pride. Morning suits and top hats are a must for gentlemen in the Royal Enclosure, and ladies are also urged to wear hats. What makes it even more unique is that the British Royal family attends daily as a tradition.

July 2015 Major Events

The first gathering in July is the Coral Eclipse in Sandown Park on 03 July – 04 July. The first day hosts a Ladies Day, with the Group 1 Eclipse, a part of the QIPCO BSC, on the second day. The prize in this event is one of the most desired in the whole British Flat racing season. The atmosphere is amazing, and the amenities are beyond satisfying. It features an intriguing race between three-year-old horses and older horses. It is truly an awe-inspiring occasion. What follows are the July Festival in Newmarket on 09 July – 11 July, the King George Weekend on 24 July – 25 July and the Glorious Goodwood held at Goodwood, on 28 July – 01 August.
