The Top 5 Betting Favourites

There are still 6 weeks until the Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe so the odds and favourites could change. As of the writing of this article these are the top 5 favourites:

Treve – 2013 European Horse of the Year. Winner of the 2013 Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe. She became the 3rd philly in a row to win the Arc following Solemia and Danedream. She is still a favourite to compete in this years event.

Sea the Moon – His father, Sea the Stars won the 2009 Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe. No horse has won the event back to back since Alleged in 1977-1978. Won the German Derby by 11 lengths in July. Sea the Moon must be taken seriously. Planning on running in the Grosser Prois von Baden at Baden-Baden in September as prep for the Arc.

Taghrooda – She was victorious at the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and should be a serious contender at this years Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe.

Australia – Sired by Galileo this horse won at Epsom in June. Australia has won 3 of the 5 races entered. This horse may be the one to watch.

Just A Way – This horse is a superstar from Japan. Japan will have 3 horses in the Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe this year. The two others are Gold Ship and Harp Star. Won the Dubai Duty Free back in March and has been rated as the best horse in the entire world. Just A Way will not be running a prep race before the Arc.

Final Thoughts

These are the favourites for the 2014 Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe in October. That could change, but these horses certainly have the ability to compete. Treve is looking to repeat this year, but no horse has done so since Alleged 1977-1978. There is no doubt that this is going to be a great race. Much will depend on the condition of the turf at Longchamp Racecourse come October and how these horses fare over the next 6 weeks. Right now you can’t count any of these horses out of the race.
